The viral horse that was captured on video galloping on I-95 outside Philadelphia last week has been given a new name. After using the highway as his racetrack, the horse was captured unharmed by police and is now back home. The horse belongs to the Fletcher Street Urban Riding Club in Strawberry Mansion outside Philly. Suggested names were asked for and then two kids participated in a horseshoe-throwing completion in which the name “Freeway” won. Although those with the nonprofit have no idea how Freeway got out, they think vandalism may have played a role. The club was grateful the whole situation is leading more people to know about free riding opportunities for kids and the history of Black horsemen in the Philadelphia area.
