It’s a sign of the times as the Bellefonte Area School District plans on purchasing metal detectors for its middle and high schools in an effort to increase student safety. On Tuesday evening the school board approved the purchase of metal detectors costing nearly 45 thousand dollars. The detectors will be operated by the district’s school resource officers and its director of safety and security while in use. Four detectors will be placed at the high school, three at the middle school.
