A 64 year old Huntingdon man is behind bars, after he allegedly broke into an apartment thinking the residents inside stole money from him. Authorities say John Mitchell tried to enter an apartment on the 800 block of Mifflin Street in Huntingdon, thinking the tenant inside stole money from him. Police say they responded to a call on March 1st that someone was knocking at their apartment door and trying to break it down. During the investigation it was determined that Mitchell was not a victim but a suspect. Authorities further say, Mitchell knocked on the door of another tenant allegedly asking for “crystal.” He also is alleged to have assaulted yet another resident of the apartment building. Mitchell has been charged with burglary, making terroristic threats and numerous other charges. He has been placed in the Huntingdon County Prison in lieu of $100,000 bail. He faces a preliminary hearing on March 13th.
