A Bedford County man has had charges filed against him following an investigation by state police, in February, into alleged acts of animal cruelty and neglect. Reportedly, 38 year old Thad Knisely, of New Paris would leave his home for days at a time and would leave his German Shepard locked in the basement receiving little to no food or water. When authorities found the dog, whose name is Nero, they report he was extremely emaciated and discovered evidence the dog had been eating Styrofoam. Later, when the dog was taken to the Bedford County Humane Society it was discovered he only weighed 65 pounds. Knisely is facing charges of cruelty to animals and animal neglect. State police say Nero was eventually adopted from the Bedford County Humane Society.
