Measure Would Allow Pre-tax Money in Business Catastrophe Savings Accounts

A bipartisan group of state lawmakers wants to encourage small businesses to save for costly natural disasters. They are proposing legislation that would allow businesses to set aside pre-tax money in specially designated Business Catastrophe Savings Accounts. The money could be used to pay for rebuilding costs that aren’t covered by insurance. Businesses would have to pay tax on the savings if they ultimately use it for something else.
