Bail has been reduced for a Bedford County couple accused in an animal hoarding, and abuse case. Yesterday during a preliminary hearing for 81 year old Nyal and 62 year old Renee Piper, the judge reduced their bail from one million to $250,000 each.  At their Bedford County home police found 90 dogs, 8 cats and a turtle, many in crates stacked on top of one another. Also found in the home were dead and decaying animals.  The animals were rescued but many had to be euthanized because they were in such bad shape. As a condition of the lowered bail, the Piper’s cannot own or work with animals, and they must undergo random searches of their property. They also cannot leave Bedford County without the approval of probation.  The two are each facing nearly 500 charges including animal cruelty, and neglect.
