A Clearfield County nonprofit is working to rehabilitate a dog that was found lying in a road in Irvona on Saturday, after it had been shot three times. Animals Matter of Clearfield County were called after a Fed Ex driver discovered two dogs lying in the road. One of the dogs was dead while the other was badly injured. The injured dog is an Australian Shepard and was taken to Metzger’s Animal Hospital in State College for treatment. Once there, x-rays showed the dog had been shot three times and his right front leg had been broken from one of the bullets and will have to be amputated. Reportedly, the owners of the dogs, claimed not to have known how the animals were shot. It was also learned the Australian Shepard’s name is Denny Boy. State Police have been contacted in this case. In the meantime, if you would like to donate to help with Denny Boy’s medical expenses, visit the Facebook page of Animals Matter of Clearfield County.
