Penn State Health has put a hold on performing liver transplants at Milton Hershey Medical Center, pending a performance review. The result could see the transplant program inactive for up to a year, according to documents received by Spotlight PA. This is the second time in approximately two years that the program has been paused. The hospital was sanctioned in 2022, based on reports of surgical complications, and a failure by staff to inform patients of potential issues, post-surgery. Sixty-three patients will be affected, and their cases will be transferred to other hospitals.
