A Johnstown woman who allegedly kept 58 cats in a single room of her Windber home is facing charges. Reportedly 67 year old Karen Turgeon was hospitalized, last month, due to her mental health, and the Cambria County Humane Society was called about a large number of abandoned cats in her bedroom. Humane officers removed the cats from the property and Turgeon has legally surrendered the animals to the humane society.  All the cats had been locked in the same room, covered in urine and feces. There was no food or water for the animals. Turgeon is facing multiple charges of neglect and cruelty to animals. Her bail hearing is slated for June 5th.
