An Emporium man has been arrested for allegedly raping a teenage girl, decades ago. State police in Cameron County arrested 77 year old Richard Bennett as a result of a lengthy investigation that began in January. Police say the victim alleged that between the years of 1997-2000, she was repeatedly assaulted by Bennett in Shippen Township. The victim also told authorities that Bennett was “angry with God,” and would tell her that, “God made him do this to her.” Bennett was arraigned yesterday on charges of felony rape among other related offenses. He has since been released on unsecured bail.
