A Salisbury woman has been accused of burning cigarettes on the skin of a five year old boy. State police in Somerset County were reportedly contacted in February to investigate burn marks found on the child’s finger and neck. Authorities say 66 year old Miriam Housel initially said the marks were “birthmarks,” however doctors at UPMC Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh concluded the marks were intentional. Housel is facing numerous charges of misdemeanor simple assault and summary harassment. A preliminary hearing date is forthcoming.
