Our latest “Local Song of the Week” comes from the Huntingdon area courtesy of multi-instrumentalist and musical adventurer Nick Miller and his self-named Nick Miller Project. Nick has gained popularity in recent years as a loop technology specialist who crafts his musical creations live on stage. Using loop pedals, Nick starts by looping a percussion rhythm, often on his djembe. From there, he begins to generate the chord progressions and bass rhythms on his guitars; and when the rhythmic backdrop is complete, Nick then sings and plays lead guitar. His song repertoire ranges between original songs and his versions of established classics and favorites from Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd and more. Nick started creating this funk-driven original song, “The Hand That Bites,” a number of years ago while he was in Wales, and he eventually completed the song recently with some collaborative assistance from drummer Merritt Leidy. Watch for The Nick Miller Project performing at stages in Huntingdon and elsewhere in the region, and find out more about him on his website, www.sylvansunfarm.com/nickmillerproject.
