Pennsylvania In Line For millions For Old Mine Pollution

Pennsylvania is getting just over 26-million dollars for its abandoned mines. The Department of the Interior yesterday announced that Pennsylvania is one of six states to get a share of 130-million from the federal government’s Abandoned Mine Land Economic Revitalization program. A third of the county’s abandoned mines are in Pennsylvania, and there are mines in 43 of the state’s 67 counties. Senator Bob Casey says the money should help communities deal with polluted water, property damage, and underground mine fires.
