Cresson Man Charged With Homicide in Killing of Altoona Man

A 46 year old Cresson man has been denied bail and is currently in the Cambria County Prison in the shooting death of 31 year old Ambrose Bowers of Altoona. Douglas Leap was arraigned on Monday night and is facing felony charges including criminal homicide and aggravated assaulted. The body of Bowers was found on a street in Cresson Borough after Leap allegedly shot Bowers six times with a 9 mm pistol on Front Street. According to the affidavit, the shooting occurred after the two men had some type of confrontation at the Shovel Head Tavern.  A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 25th.
