Report: Pennsylvania School Property Taxes To Nearly Double

A new report says school district property taxes are expected to double over the next two years in Pennsylvania.  The state’s Independent Fiscal Office says property taxes are expected to jump nearly five percent in 2025, and another four percent in 2026. That’s compared to the two-and-a-half to three percent growth of the past couple of years. School district property taxes are, as the name suggests, one of the major ways that schools get their money. The report says higher property assessments, particularly in Philadelphia, are driving the spike.
