Teamsters Local Union 8, which represents technical service employees at Penn State University, has voted to authorize a strike. The union represents 2700 workers at the university who work in custodial service, emergency medical response, food and housing service, airports services and trades. The vote allows the executive board of the Teamsters to strike if an agreement can’t be reached by this Sunday. Bargaining sessions began in early May and the two parties have met 9 times since then, to try and work out a new deal.
