A father, daughter pair from Mahaffey will stand trial for allegedly shooting a dog and leaving it to die last November. Charges were filed earlier this year against 32 year old Nichole Daisher and her father, 60 year old Rickey Daisher. Both faced a preliminary hearing on Wednesday, in which all charges against them were sent to county court for further disposition.  The dog, a male English Mastiff, was found in Clearfield County, lying on the ground, unable to move. A shoestring had been tied around the dog’s muzzle and  it had been shot in the head. The dog, named Duke, was also emaciated and tested positive for Lyme Disease. Duke reportedly was shot because it lunged at a child. Both Daishers had been charged earlier with felony conspiracy/aggravated cruelty to animals and numerous other related counts. The dog was placed in a foster-to-adopt home and reportedly has made a miraculous recovery.
