The young pilot who died when her Cessna crashed near Lock Haven on July 4th was on her second solo flight when the crash occurred. The National Transportation Safety Board released its preliminary report regarding the fatal crash, that claimed the life of 17 year old Maisie Bitler of Williamsport. According to a witness, the plane was attempting its final approach to the runway when the pilot made a sudden turn and began to accelerate. Investigators say the witness noted the plane was struggling. The preliminary report says the crash occurred as Bitler was attempting her second solo flight. Investigators say the wreckage is being examined further, and a full investigation will take months to complete.
