JD Vance is putting his Ohio roots front and center as he joins Trump’s campaign to re-take the White House. Vance made multiple references to his upbringing in Middletown during his V.P. nomination acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention last night. He used the speech to introduce his family and to make appeals to the working class in his home state and in the swing states of Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan. The first-term senator also highlighted the opioid epidemic that has gripped Middle America, mentioning his mother’s past struggles with addiction, and honoring her ten years of sobriety.
