President Biden announced today that he is pulling out of the 2024 presidential campaign. In a prepared statement Biden said, “I believe it is in the best interest of my party, and the country, for me to stand down.” He added he plans to address the nation later this week. Biden had been under a weeks-long pressure campaign from fellow Democrats to step away from the presidential campaign, after his much criticized performance in the presidential debate last month. Biden said he intends to finish out the last three months of his term in office. In a separate post, Biden said he was endorsing his vice president, Kamala Harris, to be the Democratic nominee for president. One name that has been mentioned as a possible running mate, has been Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro.
