A 21-year-old State College man was arrested over the weekend for allegedly assaulting the bar staff at Champs in downtown State College. Arrested was Shawn Cox who reportedly was asked to leave the bar, early Saturday morning, due to disorderly conduct, but refused to do so. At that point he was forcibly removed and while being removed, he allegedly began to assault the staff. One victim told police he was bit on the hand. When EMS arrived he reportedly became agitated with them and began to verbally berate them. He also attempted to bite police officers and accused them of raping him. Cox was taken to the Mount Nittany Medical Center where he was sedated due to his behavior. Following morning, while officers were attempting to take him in, Cox began to resist arrest and allegedly punched one of the officers. Police then had to use a taser gun on Cox in order to subdue him. Cox has been charged with felony aggravated assault, harassment, public drunkenness and numerous other related counts. He is currently in the Centre County Jail in lieu of bail.
