Norfolk Southern will pay 600-million-dollars to settle claims related to the 2023 train derailment that dumped hazardous chemicals in East Palestine, Ohio. People living within 20 miles of the crash site were eligible to sign on to the deal. Reports say that about 55-thousand claims were filed and many of those claims were filed by those living in Western Pennsylvania. Lawyers for Norfolk Southern have said the company plans to begin sending checks out very soon.
