Blair County Man Admits to Killing Alleged Molester

jenkins

A Blair County murder suspect alleges the man he shot and killed last Friday molested him and another family member when they were young.  Fifty-one year old David Jenkins of Duncansville, turned himself in, minutes after the shooting occurred.  Killed was 60-year-old Zachary Smola who was Jenkins neighbor.  Reportedly, Jenkins said he tried numerous times, with no success, to report Smola, who he believed molested him and his sister.  Jenkins told authorities he felt justice had not been done in a recent attempt, when he filed a criminal complaint on September 17th, so he allegedly took justice into his own hands.  Last Friday, Blair County District Attorney Pete Weeks said there was an active investigation underway, regarding a criminal complaint made by Jenkins.  Jenkins has been charged with first degree murder, possession of a weapon and numerous other related counts.  He is currently in the Blair County Prison.  Bail has been denied.  His preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 17th.
