A federal court says a western Pennsylvania school broke the rules when a teacher read two books about transgenderism to their first grade class two years ago. The judge said teacher Megan Williams violated parents rights by reading the books ‘When Aidan Became a Brother’ and “Introducing Teddy” to her class. Parents say they were never told about the books beforehand. The judge wrote that ‘absent a compelling governmental interest, parents have a constitutional right to reasonable and realistic advance notice and the ability to opt their elementary-age children out of non-curricular instruction on transgender topics.’ It’s unclear just what the ruling means for other schools across Pennsylvania.
