The Pennsylvania Drought Task Force has announced that 35 counties in Pennsylvania are experiencing drought conditions including Clearfield, Somerset and Indiana counties. The counties are under a drought watch, which means residents and businesses are asked to voluntarily conserve water by reducing nonessential water use. According to Jessica Shirley, Department of Environmental Protection Acting Secretary, the state received very little rain during the months of September and October, capping off a dry six months. She’s urging residents to be mindful of their water use. Dry conditions have also heightened wildfire risk.
