President-elect Donald Trump is nominating former Pennsylvania Senate candidate Doctor Oz to lead the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. CMS oversees Medicare, Medicaid, the Children’s Health Insurance Program, and Healthcare-dot-gov, which currently provides coverage to nearly 50-percent of Americans. Trump said Oz “has been at the forefront of healthy living for decades,” and will work alongside Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who’s been nominated to lead the Department of Health and Human Services. Democratic Senator John Fetterman, who defeated Oz in their 2022 race, posted on social media that he would vote for his former Republican opponent if he committed to protecting and preserving Medicare and Medicaid.
