Penn State To Pay $17M To Settle Suit Over Move To Virtual Learning In Spring 2020

Penn State University will pay 17-million dollars to settle a class-action lawsuit over its move to virtual learning as the COVID pandemic was reaching its peak in spring 2020.  Attorneys say the suit was filed on behalf of students whose tuition entitled them to traditional classroom education while the move to virtual classes benefited the university financially.  While school officials denied any wrongdoing in the case, they opted to settle.  Authorities say last week’s ruling is preliminary.  A hearing on the settlement is set for mid-February
