Let the shopping begin. Today is Black Friday, the unofficial start of the holiday shopping period. Many stores in our area opened at 5 this morning, with others having opened at 6. Today is an incredibly important day for retailers as they see this day as a way to energize shoppers to get them into physical stores, at a time when many gift-seekers are content to do their browsing online. Black Friday still remains the biggest day of the year for retail foot traffic.
