A longtime pastor in Johnstown has passed away. Officials with the Byzantine Catholic Archeparchy of Pittsburgh has confirmed that Monsignor Raymond Balta passed away unexpectedly on Sunday. Reportedly, the Monsignor passed away just months before he was set to retire. Balta was the pastor of the St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church, in Cambria City, for nearly 30 years. Arrangements for Balta’s funeral are pending.
