Healthcare shooting suspect Luigi Mangione is now behind bars in New York. Mangione waived extradition from Pennsylvania and made his first court appearance in New York City yesterday. He was hit with four federal charges, including stalking and murder through use of a firearm, which makes him eligible for the death penalty. Prosecutors say Mangione discussed the plot to ultimately kill UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in a notebook that was found to belong to him. They say he’d been plotting the deadly shooting for weeks before he allegedly gunned down Thompson in midtown Manhattan. Mangione did not enter a plea Thursday and will be back in court January 18th.
