Two Elk County men have been arrested after one allegedly confessed to a pastor that he had hired the other to kill his wife. Authorities arrested 49-year-old David Vanatta and 32-year-old Colton Baird of Ridgway. Authorities say the pastor reported the alleged plot to police after Vanatta confessed to paying Baird $2,000 to kill his ex-wife. Vanatta’s ex-wife was never harmed. Court records show that Baird and Vanatta were arraigned on Sunday on charges of criminal solicitation to commit criminal homicide and other related counts. Both men are currently in the Elk County Prison. Bail has been denied. A preliminary hearing is set for January 8th.
