State Representative Joanna McClinton has secured another term as Speaker of the Pennsylvania House. The Democrat McClinton, and Republican State Rep Jesse Topper, who represents Bedford and Fulton Counties, were initially tied after the Speaker vote. Democrats hold a one-seat majority in the chamber, however, Democrat Matt Gergley was missing due to a medical emergency. The Pennsylvania State House is starting the session with an even number of Democrats and Republicans, as Gergley has yet to be sworn in.
