An Everett man has been arrested after nearly three dozen cats were found living in what has been described as deplorable conditions. State police in Bedford say 40-year-old Matthew Calhoun surrendered the cats last week following an investigation. State police were called to Calhoun’s home last week after they heard from Children and Youth Services regarding the large amount of cats living in “abhorrent conditions.” Police say the animals had no access to either food or water. Calhoun was arraigned yesterday on over 100 counts, that included felony aggravated cruelty to animals. He has been placed in the Bedford County Prison in lieu of bail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for January 15th.
