An Altoona man is behind bars after he was accused of trying to shoot his wife. Fifty-five-year old William Desch the third was arrested this past weekend after Logan Township Police were called to his home on Jade Avenue. Reportedly, Desch’s wife called 911 saying her husband had a gun, pointed it at her head, pulled the trigger, but it did not go off. When police arrived at his home, Desch reportedly became uncooperative and was eventually apprehended after he was tased. Police report the gun was eventually found in the kitchen freezer, and when they discovered it, the magazine was empty. Desch is facing charges that include aggravated assault with attempt to cause serious bodily injury, and other related counts. He is currently in the Blair County Prison where bail has been set at $150,000.
