Tributes are pouring in following the passing of the longtime voice of the Pittsburgh Penguins. Mario Lemieux called Mike Lange “a Penguins legend” and said it was “an honor to have him call virtually every goal in my career.” Sidney Crosby praised Lange for providing “words of encouragement” after games and after the media had left. Former Penguins coach and current Seattle Kraken coach Dan Bylsma said that before he even arrived in Pittsburgh, he already knew of Lange’s famous calls, such as “Scratch my back with a hacksaw” and “He beat him like a rented mule.” The Penguins, the Pirates and the NHL were among those posting tributes on social media. Lange died on Wednesday. He was 76.
