Republican State Senator Doug Mastriano is considering another run for governor of Pennsylvania next year. Earlier this week Mastriano told WGAL-TV that he is “eyeing” another bid for the state’s top spot after he lost to Democrat Josh Shapiro in 2022. Mastriano, who is a former U.S. Army colonel, and friend of President Donald Trump, was elected to the Pennsylvania Senate in 2019. Governor Josh Shapiro, who is often talked about as a potential presidential candidate in 2028, is reportedly expected to run for re-election for governor, but is not expected to make that announcement until next year.
