The pilot of the plane that crashed in Lancaster County on Sunday is identified as an executive board member of a private aircraft company. Venture Jets says board member Matt White was piloting a privately owned plane when it went down with four other passengers in the parking lot of a retirement community in Manheim. President Trump weighed in on Sunday’s crash and said it had nothing to do with the firing of federal Department of Transportation workers under his administration. In response to a question about the possible role the firings played in the crash, Trump said it would have happened whether there was a “big department or small department.” The president added that there are times where incidents like these “happen a little bit more often than normal,” then you “go many years without having a problem.” The crash happened five weeks after a medical aircraft went down in Philadelphia, killing everyone on board. The investigation into the crash is continuing.
