Naming Rights To Beaver Stadium Sold

Penn State says it has sold the naming rights to its football stadium.  University officials announced yesterday that the home of the Nittany Lions will now be known as West Shore Home Field at Beaver Stadium.  The Penn State Board of Trustees voted to approve a 50-million-dollar contract with the home improvement company through the 2039 season.  The agreement ends the debate about whether late coach Joe Paterno should be honored with the field’s name.  Paterno was the teams’ most recognizable coach who also led the team during the Jerry Sandusky sex abuse scandal.  The trustees voted 22-8 in favor of the name change.  The renaming comes as Beaver Stadium undergoes a massive 700-million-dollar renovation project that is expected to take several years to complete.
