Blair County Commissioners are expected to vote today on a controversial ordinance authorizing the use of eminent domain in regards to seizing land behind the Alto-Reste Cemetery In Allegheny Township, for a new prison. Many residents have spoken out against the prison being located there, and thousands have signed a petition opposing the move. The proposed seizure involves 77 acres of a 200-acre site that has already been designated for future burial grounds. This morning’s meeting begins at 10:00 at the Blair County Courthouse in Hollidaysburg.
