For our latest “Local Song of the Week,” we spotlight one of the many quality songs off Matt Otis & the Sound’s most recent CD, 2022’s “Here Not Here.” The song “Alone” features a recurring theme that Matt Otis has addressed before, society’s obsession over the smartphone and how people become so absorbed by what is on the phone screen that they don’t live in the moment and see what is happening in front of them. Dueting with Matt on the song is Alexandra Fields of Pittsburgh-based country duo Willow Hill. The video for the song, showing the happiness that can result once smartphones are (literally) removed from the picture, was filmed at Media Quest Studio in Pittsburgh by Savannah Butler. Actors included in the video are Alexandra’s Willow Hill partner and husband C.T. Fields, and a frequent guest of Matt Otis & the Sound’s live performances, Alec Zander Redd. Watch for Matt Otis & the Sound on area outdoor stages this summer; including June 13 at the Ravenwood Estates Music Festival near Osterburg, and June 22 at Hollidaysburg’s Canal Basin Park as part of the park’s “Music in the Burg” summer concert series!
