Homegrown Rocker Playlist/Recap 4/4/21

Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the April 4 edition of “The Homegrown Rocker,” which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Q94 Classic Rock!

With guests and specials during recent weeks, we returned to the mailboxes on this week’s program to investigate new local and recordings that have accumulated. This resulted in a lot of new music making its debut on the program! We introduced new songs from August Winters, John Peacefire, Buckskin Whiskey, Six Bar Break, Robin & Bob, Rik Golden, The Returners and Domo Nada! We also remembered Damien “Peach” Petry – who passed away the previous weekend – with a song featuring “Peach” fronting his group, the High Street Drifters. We also saluted the start of a new baseball season with a baseball-themed double-shot courtesy of Antonio Andrade and Norman Nardini. And we updated “Local Music News,” pulled a 2002 tune by Cambria County’s Sounddrive from the archive for a “Local Music Flashback,” stepped “Across State Lines” to hear a new song from Long Island, New York’s Revel 9, and reviewed William Rose’s Love & Revolution album in “The Professor’s CD Corner!” (For those who missed the program, a four-part podcast of this show is available for listening or download from Q94’s website, www.q94classicrock.com. Click on “The Professor’s Classroom,” and then scroll down to “Homegrown Rocker Podcast” and look for the four show segments marked with the date, 040421.)

Organizers of the annual Bedford County Fair have announced that their event will be returning this year. The dates for this year’s fair are July 25-31. The fair is also seeking bands and performers for its midway stage. Performers must provide their own sound. Interested performers can email Barb with their information, availability and rate for a 2-3 hour show to website@bedford-fair.com. Deadline is April 20.

Sad news struck the area music during the past week with the passing of Damien “Peach” Petry. The singer, guitarist and founding member of local roots music group the High Street Drifters passed away unexpectedly on March 27 at age 44. Damien and the High Street Drifters frequently performed at Magoo’s in Cresson, as well as various music festival events throughout the region.

And from the Harrisburg area, guitarist Mike Knoll passed away on March 25 at age 49. Mike had played guitar for such bands as Waysted Sylence, Dying Breed, Angels N’ Saints and Treachery.

Maul is close to completion on their debut full-length album. The album is being recorded by Rik Golden at Golden Studios, and will be released later this year. Maul just performed last weekend during an all-ages show at the newly-opened and restored Root-Hovett Hall near Patton, part of a four-band bill with Negan, The Heathen Parade and Abstentious.
