Lzzy Hale with The Hu!

Longtime listeners to Q94’s “Homegrown Rocker” program know that Lzzy Hale and Halestorm were frequent-flyer guests during the program’s early years, prior to their rise to international stardom with Atlantic Records. It has been fun to witness both Lzzy and Halestorm’s growth and success since those early years of visiting Q94’s former “House That Rock Built” studio in Altoona.

Beyond Halestorm, Lzzy has embraced numerous other musical collaborations and undertakings; with artists such as Shinedown, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Black Stone Cherry, Dream Theater, In This Moment, Apolcalyptica, Dee Snider of Twisted Sister and more.

Perhaps this collaboration is one of the most fascinating…Recorded prior to the COVID-19 pandemic and released last May, Lzzy collaborated with and lent her voice to a song with Mongolian folk-rock group The Hu. The group performs using traditional Mongolian instruments and throat singing.

Released just prior to Mother’s Day, “Song Of Women” is a celebration of women, and the video references mothers of the performers (including Lzzy’s mom, Beth Hale).

According to comments that appeared on Blabbermouth.net, Lzzy said of her experience in the song project, “I’m so thankful to The Hu for welcoming me, my words and my melody into this song.” She added, “I can count on less than one hand the number of times where a project has changed the course of my spirit and renewed my faith in humanity. This was one of those projects. I’m still levitating.”

Here is that song: The Hu featuring Lzzy Hale of Halestorm, and “Song Of Women.”
