For this week’s “Local Song of the Week,” we visit the area bluegrass realm and spotlight a live performance track from Altoona’s Mama Corn. This is their take on the Bee Gees’ “How Can You Mend a Broken Heart,” with Bruce Forr singing lead vocal, as the group performed it on March 21, 2019 in “The Attic” at the State Theatre in State College. Mama Corn may break out that number as they perform this weekend (June 17-19) at the annual Smoked Country Jam Bluegrass Festival at Quiet Oaks Campground near Cross Fork, PA in the PA Wilds, a fundraiser for the Lupus Foundation of America Philadelphia Tri State. Your “Homegrown Rocker” host will be there to check it out, and might even bring back some live footage for a future edition of the show!
