Occasionally a cover song takes the spotlight for “Local Song of the Week,” and such is the case this week, as Pittsburgh-based ensemble The Fabulous Booze Brothers Show Band and Revue – who just made their Altoona debut at McGarvey’s on November 27 – perform their robust take on Sam & Dave’s 1966 hit “Hold On, I’m Coming.” Eleven members strong with five-piece horn section, the Fabulous Booze Brothers pay tribute to the music of the Blues Brothers, and take on other rhythm & blues, soul, funk and blues classics as well. Their “Joliet Jake” is a familiar face to area stages – Ted “Bundy” is also the frontman to popular Pittsburgh rock, punk and psychobilly group The Legendary Hucklebucks! The Fabulous Booze Brothers are a rising force throughout western PA; they will make their debut and become regular performers at Pittsburgh’s Rivers Casino starting in February. Watch for their return to McGarvey’s sometime soon!
