THE ALTOONA-BLAIR COUNTY AIRPORT HAD A PRETTY GOOD YEAR IN 2021.

ACCORDING TO A REPORT IN THE ALTOONA MIRROR, THE AIRPORT HANDELED NEARLY 9000 PASSENGERS LAST YEAR, THE MOST SINCE 2009. THE LARGEST NUMBER OF PASSENGERS CAME IN DECEMBER, DESPITE NEARLY 20% OF CANCELLED FLIGHTS BECAUSE OF COVID. AIRPORT MANAGEr TRACY PLESSINGER SAID THAT THE NUMBERS INCREASED MAINLY DUE TO A POSSIBLE RENEWED INTEREST IN FLYING, PARTICULARLY WITH COLLEGE STUDENTS. PLESSINGER ALSO PRAISED THE AIRPORTS NEW CARRIER, BOUTIQUE AIRLINES FOR THE RISE IN RIDERSHIP, BECAUSE OF ITS TICKETING POLICY AND ITS CONNECTION WITH TWO MAJOR AIRLINES, UNITED AND AMERICAN. HE HOPES THAT THE UPWARD TREND CONTINUES IN 2022.
