A MAJOR FIRE BROKE OUT YESTERDAY AFTERNOON IN BEDFORD COUNTY.
TELEVISION NEWS REPORTS STATED THAT SMOKE COULD BE SEEN FROM A GREAT DISTANCE COMING FROM THE BEDFORD VALLEY PETROLEUM FACILITY, LOCATED ALONG LINCOLN HIGHWAY. AT LEAST 4 VOLUNTEER FIRE COMPANIES WERE DISPATCHED TO FIGHT THE BLAZE. AN UNOFFICIAL CAUSE OF AN ELECTRICIAL MALFUNCTION IS LISTED AS BEING THE SOURCE OF THE FIRE, BUT AGAIN THAT IS COMPLETELY UNOFFICIAL. WORKERS WHO WERE INSIDE THE FACILITY DID MAKE IT TO SAFETY, AND NO INJURIES HAVE BEEN REPORTED. A STATE POLICE FIRE MARSHAL WILL BE HANDLING THE INVESTIGATION. THE FIRE DID NOT SPREAD TO ANY NEIGHBORING BUSINESSES OR HOMES.
