Here is a listing of area live music and online music happenings for the weekend and week of Friday, January 28 through Thursday, February 3.
Among this weekend’s slate of live music around the area are several notable shows. The ArtsAltoona Center will host another edition of “Acoustic Altoona” on Saturday evening, spotlighting three acoustic performers and their original song creations. Bedford-based singer and songwriter Devin Sherman, local folk and roots music artist Brother Jack and western PA-based singer and songwriter Alyssa Hankey will share their songs and inspirations starting at 7 p.m. Admission is $5, and snacks and soda will be available for purchase.
Felix & the Hurricanes continue to storm along. The group celebrates 33 years of generating turbulent rock’n’roll on the region’s stages with a special anniversary show on Saturday night at the Bavarian Aid Society’s upstairs ballroom. The music kicks off at 8 p.m., and several musical guests will be joining the Hurricanes throughout the evening. The show is open to the public, and open to ages 21 and over. Admission is $5 per person.
And for jazz fans, Grammy award-winning improvisational jazz guitar great Pat Metheny makes his return visit to the State Theatre in downtown State College on Wednesday evening. Pat is performing in support of his latest album, “Side-Eye,” which was released in September. The concert begins at 8 p.m., and tickets are available at the door or by visiting the State Theatre’s website, www.thestatetheatre.org.
