THE HOLLIDAYSGBURG AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT IS MULLING OVER SEVERAL OPTIONS FOR POSSIBLE CHANGE WITHIN THE DISTRICT.
THE ALTOONA MIRROR REPORTED OVER THE WEEKEND THAT THE DISTRCIT IS CONSIDERING MAJOR CHANGES FOR ITS ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS DUE TO DECLINIG ENROLLEMNT AND COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH OPERATING TWO ELEMENTARY BUILDINGS. SOME OPTIONS INCLUDE, CLOSING ONE OF ITS ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS, RENNOVATING THE SCHOOLS, OR BUILDING A NEW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. TWO DETERMINIG FACTORS WILL BE ENROLLMENT NUMBERS AND COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH ANY MOVE THE DISTIRCT CONSIDERS. THE DISTRICT IS MULLING OVER THE RECOMMENDATIONS AND IDEAS, AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DECIDED. BOARD MEMBER RON SOMMER WAS QUOTED SAYING HE DOESN’T SEE THE DISTRICT CLOSING ANY OF ITS SCHOOLS.
