Serious Charges Against Altoona Couple

TWO ALTOONA RESIDENTS ARE FACING SERIOUS CHARGES AFTER THEIR ARREST FOR ARSON.

IN A REPORT BY WJAC, POLICE HAVE RELEASED MORE DETAILS ON THE ARRESTS OF DANIEL SIPES JR AND MARIA FRYE. BOTH WERE CHARGED LAST WEEK WITH AN ARSON BACK IN MID OCTOBER. THE COUPLE IS CHARGED WITH ALLEGEDLY STARTING THE FIRE TO TRY AND KILL ONE OF THE RESIDENTS LIVING IN THE HOME. POLICE SAID THAT THEY REPORTEDLY STARTED THE BLAZE BECAUSE OF A PAST RELATIONSHIP, WHICH LED TO INFIDELITY AND POSSIBLE DRUG USE. SIPES IS ACCUSED OF PAINTING A MESSAGE ON A WALL STATING THAT HE WOULD BURN DOWN THE HOUSE WITH CHILDREN INSIDE. SIPES AND FRYE ARE CHARGED WITH ATTEMPTED HOMICIDE, ARSON AND CONSPIRACY. SIPES HAS 8 OTHER OUTSTANDING WARRANTS AGAINST HIM, AND FRYE IS FACING UNRELATED CHARGES OF CHILD ENDANGERMENT AND DRUG POSSESSON. BOTH ARE IN THE BLAIR COUNTY JAIL AFTER BAIL WAS DENIED.
