According To The Altoona Mirror, The Central Blair Rec Commission Which Operates The Facility And The City Are Trying To Decide The Best Course Of Action For Either Repairing The Existing Pool, Or Constructing A New One. For Now, The CBRC Says With Moderate Repairs The Pool Could Last Another 1-3 Years. One Major Problem With The Pool Is The Loss Of Water. The CBRC Reported That The Pool Lost 69,000 Gallons Of Water Each Day During Last Summer. That Problem Would Need Immediate Attention If The Pool Is To Open, And The Pool Would Need To Be Sealed. A Consulting Firm Has Been Hired To Go Over All Options Available To The Rec Commission And The City. The CBRC Also Stated That It Needs Lifeguards To Staff The Pool. So Far, Only 4 People Are Returning From Last Summer. 7 Lifeguards Are Needed.
